Capon Valley Ruritan Club
About Us
The Capon Valley Ruritan Club was founded in 1985 through the efforts of members
of the Yellow Spring community and the leadership of John Brill. It was
chartered by Ruritan National with the sponsorship of the Capon Bridge Ruritan
Club, led by their president, Roy B. Giffin.
The Club is a chapter of Ruritan National (www.ruritan.org/2_about_ruritan.htm).
Although it has a national affiliation, the Club is dedicated to the needs of
the Capon Valley community and works to meet some of these needs by:
Providing financial and other support to those in need;
Providing a modern facility and park-like setting for community activities such as senior citizen lunches, dinners, family reunions, etc.;
Fostering social development through scholarship opportunities, sponsoring school-related activities, and promoting community events; and
Adopting area roads for trash clean up.
In our Ruritan Student Program, our club provides for the membership of middle and high school students by paying their membership (including meals) for one year. The purpose of the Ruritan Student Program is to introduce students of all ages to the Ruritan spirit of Fellowship, Goodwill and Community Service
The Capon Valley Ruritan Club has its own building located on River Road
one-half mile from State Road 259 in Yellow Spring, WV. Although the facility
was built primarily for Ruritan events, it is used for many other community
events such as twice weekly seniors' lunches, elections, and the Capon Valley
50k Run.
The building can also be rented to members of the community for special
occasions.
